| | Went with Joe and ran 7 around Nibley. We had about a 6:40 pace for the first 3.5 miles. Then picked it up to 6:20 to Spencer's House. The final mile I did in about a 5:40.

| | We we're going to do a mile time trial so we would know what heat to put ourselves in for Saturday. But the track was covered in snow, so we went on a 4 mile run. Easy then hard(5:30) alternating miles. First hard mile was 5:26 then 2nd was a 5:39. It would have been faster if not for me slipping on the icy roads.

| | Ran 4 easy today with Spencer and Eric. Did core afterwards and then some squats and lunges for legs at home later.

| | We were going to hill repeats but because of the snow storm coach changed the workout. Me and Spencer did 3X5 laps (up stairs moderate and down stairs race pace) through the halls in school with 25 push-ups and 50 sit-ups after each set. We did our first set and then the school fire alarm went off closing off the halls. So we ran around the tiny indoor track instead. We got about 3 miles.
Later me and Spencer went to Sports Academy and ran 5 on the treadmill. My first time running on a treadmill so it was interesting. Finished with some weights and some basketball.

Kinovar 6 Green Miles: 8.20 |
|
| | Today was a waste. We did like strides through the halls for 10 laps with easy on top floor and moderate on bottom floor. But later I went and ran 4 miles on the treadmill so I guess it was okay. I'm excited for saturday with the USU indoor though.

USU Indoor (2 Miles) 00:10:25, Place overall: 3 | | USU Indoor today. I ran the 1600 to start off. We got on the starting line and it threw me off when they had me and four other kids line up on the outside curve. I knew that the start was going to be fast with the Leatham brothers racing it. I got off to a good start but by lap 4-5 I was just not focusing. I sprinted at the end caught a kid and finished .3 of a second off of Spencer. I got a 4:50 so my PR from last season and I know that I could have ran better. Next the 3200 about 4 hours later. I was feeling a little light headed before we even started. We started and it was Ethan and Spencer then me. I did my first mile in a 5:01. Then Ethan took off dropping Spencer. I kept getting closer and closer to Spencer throughout the race. The final lap we both sprinted and he beat me by less than half a second again. I got a 10:25 which isn't a PR but I'll take it for indoor.

| | We needed to clear the track today for the workout so Me, Spencer and Eric spent an hour doing that. Then we did 5X1000 and try to hit 3:00. Well after shoveling and ice still on the track I did ok. My Splits were 3:14, 3:14, 3:17, 3:21, 3:17. Later went and ran four miles at the Sports Academy. They were at like 6:45 after being a little sore. Also did weights.

| | Today was 6 miles at moderate or faster pace. We went around McDonald's and got 3 at Lincoln. Headed back up to MC and something in my stomach did not like me at all. Average pace was 6:21 but without the warm up it would have been 6:10ish.

| | New shoes today after 500 miles on my other ones. Today was hill repeats up Center street in Providence. 30, 60, 90, 120 with zero rest at the bottom. It's been awhile since my last hill workout and I've got something in my stomach that hasn't liked me the last two days. Then went and did two more miles at Sports Academy even though my gut just hates me. Did a lot of leg and core work on the machines.

BYU Indoor (1 Miles) 00:04:48, Place overall: 50 | | Left for BYU at 4:30 so that was rough. This was my first time ever on BYU's campus so I was impressed. When I started the mile I think that I was prepared. I did my first lap in 55 sec(350 meter track). Then I just started to fall behind. I need to stay with people as they go to pass me and just out kick them at the end. I got a 4:48 which is a PR by 2 seconds. For the 3200 I just felt tired. I tried going out a little slower than usuall and picking up my pace during the race. Everyone was flying on the first mile and I was too far behind to catch them. I need to just stay with Spencer as he takes off. I got a 10:25 which was ok but I need to do better.

| | Workout today was mile warm up and then 5:45-5:50 pace for 20 min. With a mile cooldown and then 5X100 meter sprints to finish it off. I went down to Millville and was able to hold the pace till about 3 minutes left on the 20 min. But once I hit one minute left I just started booking it and I felt like I could have held that energy boost for another mile. Its like I hit an energy boost when I get towards the end of the run. After that I did the 100 meter sprints as fast as I could. I was far enough away from home that I did an extra 100 meters to get back a little faster. Afterwards I went with Spencer to Sports Academy to do weights and relax in the hot tube.

| | Ran for 30 minutes in the pool with Spencer at 6:20. Went and did conditioning with the track team after school. They mostly did squats and lunges so my legs were dead after already doing those the night before. Then went a did 2 miles up to Canyon to loosen my legs up.

| | Went and swam this morning with Spencer. The workout was 10 min warmup and then 1 min hard 30 sec easy going up by 30 seconds hard till we hit 3 min then working our way back down. After that I went and ran 7 miles with Eric around Hyrum. To finish it up we did 5X100 meter sprints. I'm a little tired after all that and my legs are still a little bit sore from Tuesday.

| | Today was 5 progressive miles starting at 6:15 pace and cutting off 15 sec each mile till the final mile is a 5:15. I was right on track on all of the miles until I got to the final mile. I was at a 5:15 until I got to the mile with a half mile left and just couldn't move any faster. Ended up with 6 because of a half mile warmup and cooldown.

| Race: |
Weber State Indoor 3200 (2 Miles) 00:10:17 | | Weber State Indoor meet today. Started off with the 3200 so 16 laps. I was put in the same heat as AF and Davis so I was expecting to get lapped. We take off and I'm in the middle of the pack. I just went after Malone because we are close to the same speed. I passed Summers and a kid that beat me at BYU. On the second to last lap Malone starts going for it so I went with him. I ended up passing him and like 3 other kids in the final sprint. I don't know my exact time because something went wrong with the timer. Malone said he got a 10:18 so I think I was at least a 10:17. I just keep doing better every week. The mile was like 4 hours later and I just felt awful. I decided I would just try something different during the race. I was middle of the pack with 2 laps in and decided I wanted to be in the front. So I sprinted around like 8 kids into 1st place. I held that spot for 2 laps until I just hit the wall and people passed me. Then with 2 laps to go I just told myself that no matter what I'm sprinting right now. I took off and just missed the first place person. I just have to trust my body and sprint sooner. I got a 4:58 which is a bad time but given how I felt, I'm fine with it.

| | Today was 16X200 meters repeats. Was supposed to be about at 4:30 pace for each one. I didn't have the time on the each one because I was keeping track of distance and pace. Then we did our mile cooldown to go with our mile warmup.

| | Today was 7 miles at alternating pace of easy and moderate. We went to Providence to run because it gets boring running in Hyrum every single day. We headed towards Logan and went up Cliffside. As we were coming back down I happened to see a square looking thing on the side of the road. I stopped and there was an Ipad just laying on the side of the road. It still worked but it was password protected. We took it to the houses nearby and no one claimed it. So I'm just going to hang on to it till we find the owner. After that we finished the run.

|
| | So the snow storm that we got over here in the valley closed down all of the roads so we couldn't go down and race at the Olympic Oval on saturday.
Today was 3 miles of hills so after a mile warmup we went to the block that we always do our intervals on. Each side of the block was .15 so we would go hard on the hilly side of the block. Jog the flat part then hard and easy again. We went like 5 and a half laps around the block to get our 3 miles of hills. We did a cool down of 2 miles to finish it off. I felt good after that workout. I was breathing hard and felt tired but not enough that I'm going to be dead for tomorrow.
Later did 3 on the treadmill. First 2 miles were about 6:25 and last mile just kept increasing the speed until the final half mile was at 5:00. Then did some arms and a ton of core training.
|
Kinovar 6 Green II Miles: 9.20 |
|
| | Today was 7 miles easy so we went to Providence starting at Zollinger Park. We went up to the Temple and to Logan Canyon. Then we went down mainstreet and no one had shoveled their sidewalks so we had to take a detour with all the snow slowing us down. Then we finished at Zollinger Park.
|
Kinovar 6 Green II Miles: 7.10 |
|
| | I had a doctors appointment so I had to run later today. I went down to Riverheights and down to Merlin Olsen Park. Then headed down towards the canyon till I got to the Laub's house then turned around. It was supposed to be 7 miles at 6:20 pace but I got carried away and did a 6:05 pace instead. Hopefully that doesn't hurt me for tomorrow's workout. I saw both Logan and USU out running so it most be a popular route I guess.

| | Today we did Hollow Road with intervals. After a mile warmup we would go hard for .25 then easy .25. We repeated this all the way to the top of the Nibley Dip. Then an easy mile cool down to finish. Our hard ended up being 4:50-5:15 pace.
Later that night I did 2 miles on the treadmill. Along with some core and legs.

| | Ran the Millville Loop with a little extra to reach 8. We were running a little under 6:30 and pushing it up the hills to average 6:30 pace. Felt good and it's finally warm outside!

|
| | Today was 7 miles at moderate pace once again. Everyone else wimped out so I went alone just like last Monday. I went down the Nibley Dip to the Miller road. I turned at South Cache and then went up main street back to the school. After that I did 10 sets of 10 second sprints. I felt worn out but not exhausted after that. I ended up averaging a 6:04 on my 7 which was one second better than last week so Improvement! After that I went to the Sports Academy and did some legs and core before heading home.

| | Today was just 5 miles easy with a tough hill workout tomorrow. But, when I was waling out of the locker room the door was closing so I stuck my foot out to stop it like I have a thousand times before. Except this time I felt a twinge in my achilies that lasted a couple minutes. But I went an ran and didn't have a problem. But as soon as I got home my achilies hurt like none other. So hopefully I can run tomorrow.

| | My achilies was still bothering me so I didn't run today.
| |
| | Taking it easy today to see how my Achilles feels. I could feel my Achilles but it didn't hurt and it would hurt less the faster I ran. I went up to Blacksmith Fork canyon and back. Later I did some core with the rest of the team and went home and iced.

| Race: |
Utah Distance Challenge (1 Miles) 00:04:39 | | I was going to race the 1600 and depending on how my Achilles felt do the 3200. We started the 1600 and I immediately got trapped. I couldn't move until a lap in I finally just went between two kids. I tried to catch the leaders but had been trapped too long. I sprinted the final lap and caught 2 more kids to finish with a 4:39. A PR by 9 seconds! My Achilles didn't hurt at all until after the race so I did the 3200 as well. I took off the line and was right behind Ethan and Spencer for the first 4 laps. Then I just started to drop as I was running out of energy. Seemed like everyone passed me those 2 laps. The final lap I told my self just sprint till you cross that line. I caught 4 kids the final lap to get a 10:06. Another PR by 6 seconds. I had a good day and I know I could have done even better if I adjust my race strategy a little bit.

|
| | I was really busy today so I didn't run until 7 at night with a headlamp. The workout was alternating moderate and hard with the final half mile at 2 mile pace. My splits were 6:05, 5:26, 6:16, 5:34, 6:20, 5:39, 5:55. I was trying to keep my moderate miles under 6:20 and my hard miles close to 5:30. My final half mile I could only hit a 5:30. It was a good workout though considering I had gone to Crystal earlier so I was dehydrated and the last time I had eaten was at 1. And it was a bowl of ice cream with a friend so that probably didn't help my times.
|
Kinovar 6 Green II Miles: 7.00 |
| |
| | Today was a progressive run starting at 6:15 and going down 15 sec. each mile for 5 miles. My watch was being weird though so I went off of spencers watch. We did a mile warmup and mile cooldown. My splits were 7:11, 6:09, 6:05, 5:44, 5:32, 5:20, 7:36. I felt awful for the last two miles so I was fine with where the splits were.

Kinovar 6 Green II Miles: 7.10 |
|
| | Today was just 4 miles easy as a prerace for Simplot tomorrow. My legs feel a little worn down from the last two days but I think I'll be ready to go for the 3200. Spencer got put in the first heat so he'll just get pulled by the rest of the field. I got put in the 3rd heat and the only name I recognize is Jacob Malone so looks like it will be the two of us at the front of the pack. I want to break 10 min so I got to do 38 seconds per lap.

Simplot 3200 (2 Miles) 00:10:14 | | Today was the Simplot 3200. I warmed up a mile and then went and watched the first two heats of the 3200. I was seeded 6th in my heat. I took off with Jacob Malone for the first 2 laps and then everyone started to catch us. I was not feeling it today as I was out of breath before the second mile started. My first mile was like a 4:48 and then I just started to drop. I kept Jacob with in 10 feet until the final 2 laps. My second to last lap split was like a 44 while my last lap was a 34. I had more energy to use I just didn't. Ended up with a 10:14 which was not a good time. I have a lot of work to do for outdoor season. Afterwards went on a cooldown with some of the HJP for 3 miles.

There was a tunnel that you had to go through but since there was a deer body that looked like it had been recently eaten in front of the tunnel we decided to not go that way. Ran down to the island and back to the dam to get 10. Felt great, no pain and got to enjoy the sun.

| | Today's workout was 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 400 with 400 active recovery between each one. They were having soccer tryouts on the track today at MC so we went to Logan instead for our workout. Kind of funny because the Logan coach asked us if we were from the university. Our average pace was about a 5:20-30 for most of the intervals. The final 800 and 400 tried to go as fast as we could. My calves are kind of sore after 6 miles on the track and now I have a blister under my big toe. Spencer also got a blister.

|
| | Today was 4Xmile repeats at 2 mile race pace with a 400 active recovery. We did a half mile warmup before starting. We did our first mile in 4:51 which is only 12 seconds off my pr. The next repeat was about a 5:08. Then coach wanted us to go 5:20 pace and gradually pick it up for our 3rd mile. Ended up being about a 5:18 mile. For the final mile coach wanted us to not go any faster than 5:30 because we were so wornout from this whole week. It turned out being about a 5:23 for the final mile. Then we did a mile barefoot to cooldown.

|
| | Workout was 2m warmup 4x800 at 2m race pace with 2m cooldown. Did the first 800 in 2:11 which was only 2 seconds slower than what I ran at the dual a couple weeks ago. Shows how bad of a race that was. The next couple were much slower as I need to get back into shape after missing time with my foot. 2:34, 2:37, 2:35. Cooldown and was a little light headed.

Just needed to be under 5 so I went hard on the first lap to see what I could get. First lap was a 56 then 2:11, 3:39, 4:52. Crappy time but I'm still trying to catch up. Achilies was bugging me again. I just can't get a break.

| | Today was 6x200 with 200 between. My achilies was on fire for the warmup but felt fine doing the 200's we did 34, 34, 33, 34, 33, 30. Then cooldown 2 miles. Racing at Clearfield tomorrow but with Grizz invite Saturday I'm just going to do the 400 and 800.

|
| | Dual meet at Clearfield today. Didn't want to do the 1600 or 3200 so I did the 400 and 800. Never ran the 400 before. Had no idea how to use the blocks so I just didn't use them. I was in lane 5 with Spencer in lane 6. Took off and Spencer had a small lead on me. We dropped the other runners on the final 150 meters. I crossed just after Spencer did. He got about a :52 with me at about :53. State qualifiying is :51 so not a bad race. 15 minutes later though I had to do the 800. Still wasn't recovered from the 400 and just did awful.

Grizz Invite (2 Miles) 00:10:18, Place overall: 6 | | Grizz Invite today. Warmed up and did everything I could to try and make my Achilies feel better. Goal was to try and make top 5. First mile was in 4:57 and then there was a huge gap with 5 in front of me and everyone else behind me with me in no mans land. My 6th and 7th lap is what killed me as I did them way too slow. Finished in a 10:18.16 which is not what I wanted but for not having training and my Achilies was ok. Congrats to Spencer for taking first with a 9:43. Afterwards getting ready for the 1600 I noticed my ankle and achilies were about the size of a grape fruit. Could really tell during the race when I finished in a 4:52. Not a good time. I just can't get a break.

| | Achilies is still being stubborn so biked 24 miles in the pouring rain.
|
| | Went to Doctor today. He said I have a tear in my Achilies. Turns out I ran at the Grizz Invite with a torn Achilies. No wonder I didn't do well. Doctor wanted me to try running and if it felt good I could run if not then I get a boot for two weeks. Tried running and didn't go well. Not too excited

Kinovar 6 Green II Miles: 2.00 |
|
| | First day with a boot. Don't like it one bit.
|
| | I can't run or swim but I can sure bike. 30 miles with 5 hill repeats in Wellsville today.
|
| | 12 miles with 2 hill repeats in Millville before it got too dark to see anything. Good job to Spencer and Ethan at today's Cache Box Invite today.
|
| | 15 miles with 4 repeats up the same Millville hill.
|
| | 21 miles at MC with repeats up Blacksmith Fork hill
|
| | 12 miles with repeats in Millville before it got to dark
|
| | Talked to Wess today and he'll let me run! Get rid of the boot and start training again! Can't sprint, do hills, or wear spikes though. I warmed up with Spencer and then did 600, 400, 300, 200 at 3/4 effort. Then cooldown. Everything felt great before my achiles started to tighten up the final .5 left of the cooldown.

| | Nice and easy today with Davis tomorrow. Still not sure if I'm going to run the 3200 though. Don't want to go back to that boot again.

| | Achiles wasn't feeling ready to race yet. Didn't have anything to gain from running today. Just watched, cheered and held the umbrella at Davis. Was pouring during the invite section.
|
| | Started with an 800 at 2:20. Then 8x400 alternating between 1:05-10 and 2:20 ending with 1000. Did 800 in 2:17, 400s in 1:05, 1:10, 1:10, 1:07. 1000 in 2:30. Not bad for not being able to sprint yet.

Region Medley (0.5 Miles) 00:02:01, Place overall: 3 | | Raced the 800 in the Medley. Was my best chance at making it to state because of my slow start to the season with my foot injury. Needed to get 3:42.05 or 4th place to go to state. When I got the batton we were in 3rd place and Weber and Skyview had gotten the batton about a second before I did. Jake Lee of Weber took the lead with Connor Compton of SV right behind him. I past Connor with about 500 meters to go and caught Jake with 400 to go. First lap in a 58. I took the lead with about 300 left and ticked Jake off so he took off. I tried staying with him but I just don't have a kick like him. 100 meters to go Connor past me. I took 3rd with a 3:41.8 about so got the time. Jake ran about a 1:59, Connor 2:01, and I had 3 people time me and all of them had 2:01. something so I just took the slowest time which was a 2:01.7. I'm happy with it. I had never ran that fast before and I still get to run one last time.

Region 3200 (2 Miles) 00:10:15 | | Today was interesting. We went out to eat because my family was visiting. Next morning woke up and felt fine. Got to SV and was warming up for the 3200 and had to lose my lunch. Some kind of stomach bug or something probably from last night. Got ready to race the 3200 and wasn't feeling that great. Did the first mile and was just feeling terrible. Kept trying to push because it was my last time racing the 3200. Finished in a 10:15 which was better than what I ran the Grizz invite with a tear in my achilies. Disappointed but gave it my best effort. Tried eating a little food for the 800 and it stayed down but was still not liking it. Ran the first lap of the 800 in a 1:03. Was in last and even though I was feeling terrible just couldn't take last. I sprinted and passed Winter, Adi, and almost caught Spencer. 2:08 which is awful considering I ran a 2:01 yesterday. Had to lose my lunch again after that race. Rough day but I'm still going to state.
