We went out to eat because my family was visiting. Next morning woke up and felt fine. Got to SV and was warming up for the 3200 and had to lose my lunch. Some kind of stomach bug or something probably from last night. Got ready to race the 3200 and wasn't feeling that great. Did the first mile and was just feeling terrible. Kept trying to push because it was my last time racing the 3200. Finished in a 10:15 which was better than what I ran the Grizz invite with a tear in my achilies. Disappointed but gave it my best effort. Tried eating a little food for the 800 and it stayed down but was still not liking it. Ran the first lap of the 800 in a 1:03. Was in last and even though I was feeling terrible just couldn't take last. I sprinted and passed Winter, Adi, and almost caught Spencer. 2:08 which is awful considering I ran a 2:01 yesterday. Had to lose my lunch again after that race. Rough day but I'm still going to state.
Thu, 12 May 2016 06:00:00 Wed, May 11, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-11-2016.html
Raced the 800 in the Medley. Was my best chance at making it to state because of my slow start to the season with my foot injury. Needed to get 3:42.05 or 4th place to go to state. When I got the batton we were in 3rd place and Weber and Skyview had gotten the batton about a second before I did. Jake Lee of Weber took the lead with Connor Compton of SV right behind him. I past Connor with about 500 meters to go and caught Jake with 400 to go. First lap in a 58. I took the lead with about 300 left and ticked Jake off so he took off. I tried staying with him but I just don't have a kick like him. 100 meters to go Connor past me. I took 3rd with a 3:41.8 about so got the time. Jake ran about a 1:59, Connor 2:01, and I had 3 people time me and all of them had 2:01. something so I just took the slowest time which was a 2:01.7. I'm happy with it. I had never ran that fast before and I still get to run one last time.
Wed, 11 May 2016 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 27, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-27-2016.html
Just 5 miles easy today. Still not sure if I'm going to run the 3200 though. Get rid of the boot and start training again! Can't sprint, do hills, or wear spikes though. I warmed up with Spencer and then did 600, 400, 300, 200 at 3/4 effort. Then cooldown. Everything felt great before my achiles started to tighten up the final .5 left of the cooldown.
Thu, 21 Apr 2016 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 20, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-20-2016.html
12 miles with repeats in Millville before it got to dark
Wed, 20 Apr 2016 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 19, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-19-2016.html
21 miles at MC with repeats up Blacksmith Fork hill
Tue, 19 Apr 2016 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 18, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-18-2016.html
15 miles with 4 repeats up the same Millville hill.
Mon, 18 Apr 2016 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 16, 2016 http://haydenewer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2016.html
12 miles with 2 hill repeats in Millville before it got too dark to see anything. Turns out I ran at the Grizz Invite with a torn Achilies. No wonder I didn't do well. Doctor wanted me to try running and if it felt good I could run if not then I get a boot for two weeks. Tried running and didn't go well. Not too excited
Wed, 13 Apr 2016 06:00:00
